Guitar Chords

What is a Guitar Chord?

A guitar chord is a combination of different notes of the fret played together on a guitar to create a harmonious sound. When you press down on the strings at specific frets and strum the strings, you produce a chord.

Basically for acoustic guitar, there are the following major chords; A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, G#, and the minor chords; Am, A#m, Bm, Cm, C#m, Dm, D#m, Em, Fm, F#m, Gm, G#m.

Chords are the foundation of most songs and allow you to create melodies and accompany yourself or other musicians. Each chord is made up of specific finger positions on the guitar fretboard, and by learning different chord shapes and positions, you can play a wide variety of songs.
